#FreeAkuapemPoloo trends for 30 hours as Ghanaians push for Akuapem Poloo’s eventual release

Since the news broke on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, announcing the conviction of actress Akuapem Poloo in court for sharing a nude photoshoot with her son, the call for her release has intensified.

From television and radio interview to social media campaigns, celebrities and concerned Ghanaians believe Akuapem Poloo needs to be treated with kids gloves by the court and those in leadership as far as her case is concerned.

Akuapem Poloo’s decision to admit to the fact that she is guilty of the three charges levelled against her in court suggests that the court has been given an easy task to pronounce judgement on her according to the law.

This presupposes that the lawyers in charge of Akuapem Poloo’s case have thrown their hands in despair and conceded that their client faltered in sharing such explicit material on social media.

Therefore, the court on Friday, April 16, 2021, will be looking forward to either fining Akuapem Poloo or sentencing her to prison or both.

These, Ghanaians believe should never be the only options. They believe Akuapem Poloo has been traumatized enough and the entire process has severed and will continue to serve as a bitter lesson to her which will definitely guide, shape and polish her social media etiquette.

That notwithstanding, Ghanaians believe Akuapem Poloo is a single mother who has been working hard to cater for her son thus any separation that would come between mother and son will do her more harm than good.

As the court seeks to make a final determination on her case tomorrow with her pregnancy test in high consideration, Ghanaians, celebrities and several others believe Akaupem Poloo should be let go.

With the hashtag [#FreeAkuapemPoloo] up high in the trends, the argument has moved away from whether Akuapem Poloo was right or whether there are many other grievous offences that have been swept under the carpet to people just pleading the court to grant her amnesty.

Interesting times ahead for the Ghana Entertainment Industry since Akuapem Poloo’s case may lead to a new revolution or a stamp on the status quo based on how things will eventually pan out.
