Gavin Newsom is an American politician and businessman who is also the 40th governor of California since January 2019. He is also a member of the Democratic Party. His previous positions held included the 49th lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019 and the 42nd mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011.

Newsom was born on 10 October 1967 to Wilfred (a state appeals court judge and Getty Oil attorney) and Tessa (mother). He completed Ecole Notre Dame Des Victoires, a French-American bilingual school then Redwood High School. He finally graduated with a BS degree in political science from Santa Clara University

On 14 May 1991, Newsom and his investors created PlumpJack Associates L.P which later grew and made way for another company called PlumpJack Winery. With time, the company had over 700 employees. Newsom had the chance to work for Willie Brown in his 1995 campaign. When Willie won, he appointed Gavin to a seat on the Parking and Traffic Commission and later as the president. Before then, he has been the mayor of San Francisco, the 49th lieutenant governor of California and others.
