The popular perception is that gospel musicians are unique as compared to the secular ones. Thus, musicians who do the gospel genre are seen as pious because of the sacred nature of the word of God they constantly preach in their songs whereas the remaining genres of music are labeled as profane.

However, the public attitude and utterances of some gospel artistes in the country make some discerning Ghanaians doubt if they’re true preachers of the word of God as they profess in their songs. There are instances where some gospel artistes have involved themselves in extreme immoral acts and other ungodly stuff. Such acts make discerning Ghanaians question their authenticity.

Therefore, the blogger took the pain to conduct a poll from a section of Ghanaian music consumers to outline a list of six (6) popular Gospel musicians they doubt their authenticity with valid reasons.

Scroll through to know the rumoured ‘FAKE’ gospel musicians in Ghana.

1. Brother Sammy

The Nation’s worshipper, Brother Sammy, has been in the news for many bad reasons with highlights on his alleged pregnancy issue with one Ohemaa Jacky, alleged fake accident and involving himself with occultism. One Ghanaian-born UK based gospel singer, Ohemaa Jacky, was in the news months ago for sleeping with Brother Sammy. The most captivating of all the bad news has to do with when he was recently exorcised by Prophetess Cecelia Marfo. This and many others go a long way to prove that Brother Sammy is not a real gospel artiste as he profess to be in the voice of Ghanaians.

2. Joyce Blessing

She’s arguably the most ingrate gospel musician of our time. Meanwhile, gratitude as they say is the best attitude. Joyce Blessing’s former manager, Kwesi Ernest, invested so much in her craft but started showing attitudes at the climax of her music career. Matters became worse when she was signed unto Zylofone Media somewhere July 2017.

But in an interview with Delay, Joyce Blessing stated emphatically that it was her talent that made her excel not necessarily the investment by Kwesi Ernest. Again, Joyce Blessing mounted the stage to perform alongside Shatta Wale in the just ended S-Concert. Don’t forget, Joyce claims to be a gospel musician and for that matter what is written in 2 Corinthians 6:4 concludes her ‘fakeness’.

3. Gifty Osei

The Ghana Beyonce/Empress as she’s affectionately called by her peeps. In short, you’re not wrong to label her Ghana’s most fashionable self professed gospel artiste. She does fashion stuff best and have it at heart more than the gospel genre. She don’t give a damn about her questionable outfit to public places

Interestingly, Lady Chicago, Gifty’s mother will support her in any day whenever there’s a wardrobe malfunction. Similarly to Joyce Blessing, she mounted the stage to perform alongside Shatta Wale in the just ended S-Concert. Don’t forget, Gifty Osei claims to be a gospel musician and for that matter what is written in 2 Corinthians 6:4 concludes her ‘fakeness’.

4. Obaapa Christy

According to the section of Ghanaians the blogger sampled their opinions, Obaapa Christy is nothing but a showcase gospel artiste. She jumps on stage to let Ghanaians know she got the swag and her wardrobe is dapper. There’s no spirituality in her songs. Her songs are a blend of secular swag with the gospel artiste tag!

5. Ernest Opoku Junior

Interestingly, anytime the name Ernest Opoku Junior is mentioned, only two things come up for discussion. Thus, it’s either he has ventured into another relationship battle or ‘juju’. Perhaps because he’s ‘artificially’ handsome. Somewhere 2013, the most trending news from his camp was when he caused the arrest of his girlfriend for allegedly breaking his laptop who’s in the person of Tracey Boakye, an actress, a Producer, C.E.O of Shakira Movie Production et al.

On the other hand in 2017,  a certain ‘woman of God’ criticised Ernest Opoku for allegedly using juju to do music. The lady who is believed to be in living in Europe said she has had a revelation that the “Awurade Aye” hit maker allegedly uses fetish spirits in his works. It’ll interest you to know that instances whereby there will be a lot of controversies surrounding a gospel artiste like Ernest Opoku makes people doubt the authenticity of the genre he profess to do.

6. Nacee

Nacee is indisputably one of the talented artistes in Ghana but he’s too desperate for money according to Ghanaians whose opinions were sampled. As a result of his supreme love for money, anything goes! To Ghanaians, they can’t lay hands on the exact music genre to tag Nacee. Even his recent collaboration with Guru titled, ‘Boys Boys’ as well as his contribution to NDC’s 2016 campaign song, #Onaapo‘ sums up everything.

So, there you have the list of six (6) artistes who just use the ‘gospel’ tag to ride on as a face saving mechanism according to the opinions of music consumers in Ghana. In short, their character are direct opposite to the sacred nature of their chosen profession. However, the aforementioned artistes are the very few among the masses because we can’t put all their names here as a result of limited space.

Nonetheless, watch out for the ‘REAL’ gospel artistes in our subsequent publication. More importantly, ‘FAKE’ is contextually used to denote gospel artistes whose camp has always been surrounded by a lot of controversies which shouldn’t be so taking into consideration the sacred nature of their music genre.
