A disappointed Ghanaian football fan as reported on Ghanacrusader.com on July 17 nearly physically assaulted Kwesi Appiah if not for the fully rolled and locked glass windows on his car.
According to the report, Coach Kwesi Appiah escaped physical assault from the angry Ghanaian young man in Ghana’s capital, Accra yesterday while driving in traffic.
The incident, which is said to have happened at the newly opened under-bridge road that connects Spintex to East Legon was very embarrassing the coach might consider resigning as the coach for the Nation Men’s soccer team.
The coach was in his ash-coloured 2015 Toyota four-wheel SUV registered, heading towards East Legon when the young man spotted him.
Speaking in his native Fante language, the young man harassed Kwesi Appiah as the traffic slowly moved: “Are you a coach? You are very stupid. The whole of Ghana, you are the most useless. We don’t want you as a coach. Who told you that you are a coach? You are lazy, no intelligence. You don’t know anything about football and coaching.”
While the angry young man vented his anger on Kwasi Appiah, he pretended to be receiving a telephone call as the verbal assault and abuse flowed.
Majority of Ghana’s football fraternity remain unhappy about the fate with the Black Stars performance at the soon-to-end AFCON which saw us been eliminated at the Round of 16 with a defeat to Tunisia in Ismailia.
The security of Kwesi Appiah has become a matter of concern as a few days ago, it was alleged that another angry Ghanaian had attempted entering his home to attack him.
