Ghana Election 2020: “I Wasn’t Shading Dumelo When I Said Parliament Isn’t For Actors” – Hon Shirley Botchway Makes U-Turn

Not long ago, we reported that at a rally held at the Ayawaso West constituency by the ruling New Patriotic Party, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway stated that Parliament is not for movie actors but rather serious people.

She further urged electorates to vote for Madam Lydia Alhassan because popularity alone amassed by some people because of their career alone can’t take them to parliament

An indication that she is throwing an indirect shade at actor John Dumelo who is also contesting for the seat on the ticket of the NDC.

Reacting to criticisms that she was shading the actor, Shirley has disclosed that her comment on Parliament being for serious people wasn’t an attack at anyone or the entire film making and creative arts industry.

In a press release, she stated that any desperate attempt by political opportunists to twist and portray her comment as a swipe at an entire industry should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
