The Ghana Police Service has responded to the tragic occurrence at the Islamic High School in Abrepo, Kumasi.
We awoke to reports of police officers battling with Islamic High School students during a demonstration.
According to reports, the children gathered in large numbers after complaining about regular road accidents in front of their school but received little response from community officials.
From what we have learned, the students blocked the road while demonstrating and this provoked the police officers who were at the site to fire a tear gas which left approximately 30 students unconscious.
The police agency explains how it all happened in an official statement on their official and verified Facebook page in response to the news.
They went on to say that the police officers were compelled to use tear gas because the students had blocked the roadways and they needed to restore order.
They also stated that some of their guys were injured and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
