The government of Ghana has returned 562 Nigerien beggars who have flooded the streets of the nation’s capital back to their homeland, Niger.

This relocation was carried out in partnership with the Nigerien Embassy in Ghana.

On Wednesday, June 9, 2022, the first wave of returned street beggars landed in Yamai, Niger.

The Ghanaian government is still planning to repatriate 1000 more Nigerien beggars on the streets of Accra to their homeland.

The remaining mobilized beggars are likely to join their colleagues later this week.

Several more are still being summoned from different regions of the country to help the administration cleanse major cities of street beggars.
