Hip-life star and proponent of Fante rap, Kofi Kinaata has bemoaned the bad attitude of some mainstream DJs which he thinks retards the development of music in the country.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz in a new interview, the ‘Confession’ crooner said some DJs are ignoring good songs from underground artistes and keep playing “bad” songs from big artists.
According to the rapper, it wasn’t easy for “Chochomucho” by Bless to hit because there was no money to push it, suggesting that all boils down to what these DJs do.
“It was difficult for a song like Chochomucho by Bless to become a hit just because he didn’t have the money to push it but other songs I don’t even regard as songs are doing so well”, he said.

“The DJs will not play a song, especially from an up-and-coming artiste, but would prefer to play a bad song from a popular artiste which is not cool”, he lamented.
