Ghanaian Traders Sell Cassava Starch Mixed With Akpeteshie As Hand Sanitizers To Unsuspecting Buyers

Some traders are said to be allegedly mixing starch with a locally distilled alcoholic beverage popularly called Akpeteshie and selling it to unsuspecting buyers as hand sanitizers in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. 

This unorthodox practice was revealed by a Kumasi-based Journalist, Barima Kwabena Owusu who shared the information on social media.

He wrote: ”Someone sold this, starch mixed with alcohol as hand sanitizer to a taxi driver for GHS90… Herhh nipa y? bad saa y? forkin.”

We understand these people collect bottles of hand sanitizer from companies which they clean and fill it up with their concoctions which they sell to customers. As we know, there’s a mad rush for hand sanitizers to ward of coronavirus as prescribed by health authroties.
