‘Ghanaians Are Being Starved Of Real Dancehall’- Kelvyn Boy

Afrobeat specialist, Kelvyn Brown- known by his stage name as Kelvyn Boy has suggested that the kind of music Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale do cannot be termed real Dancehall music. 

The ‘Yawa No Dey’ composer disclosed this when radio and TV personality, Jay Foley asked to share his opinion on why all new songs from artistes in Ghana currently have the same Beat Per Minute.

In response, he said: ‘It’s been a long time, Its been a very long time I heard a real dancehall song in Ghana. Be true to yourself. When was the last time you heard a dancehall song in Ghana?’ he asked Jay Foley.

He said most artistes are recording afrobeat songs and title them as dancehall, a situation he believes could retard Ghana’s quest in taking Africa by storm with its music.
