Reigning artiste of the year, Kuami Eugene has called out claims that he deserved to win Artiste of the year last year, and not this year.

After bagging the award at the just ended VGMAs, fans thought Kuami Eugene accomplished more in music last year than he did this year. They claimed he put out more songs last year and his energy in the industry was stronger, compared to this year.

Speaking on the Issue, the “open gate” hit singer called Ghanaians “hypocrites” for not speaking up when the felt he deserved the award last year.

He said;

“So they watched the last year VGMA go away knowing I deserved it and nobody talked about it? Wow, you see how human beings are? Everybody stood mute and couldn’t have said this thing was for Kuami Eugene? Nobody said it. Now I have it and they are saying it should’ve been last year? That’s Hypocrisy.”

A lot of controversies surround this year’s VGMAs, and lots of fans feel most of the awards didn’t go to the nominees that actually put in work and deserved it.​
