According to a Global Info Analytics poll, Ghanaians want former President John Dramani Mahama to run in the general elections of 2024.
The survey found that the NDC’s flagbearer has a better chance of winning the 2020 general elections.
When compared to the current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, 53% of Ghanaians preferred Mr. Mahama.
Voters trusted Mr Mahama more than the Vice President on jobs, infrastructure, and the economy, according to the poll.
According to pollster Ben Ephson, John Mahama should change his 2020 running mate or risk losing the 2024 elections.
He said the 2020 NDC presidential candidate should replace Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman.
Mr. Ephson believes the former President cannot win elections with the former Education Minister.
In an interview with Joy News, he said the former president should consider any of his political rivals for the flagbearership.
“In order to win the general elections in 2024, Mahama will have to rebrand himself. It’s possible he’ll need to form a coalition or pick an NDC presidential candidate as his running mate.”
“…he has the advantage of being marketed already where Mahama is,” he added. And Mahama’s body language suggests he’s keeping his running mate for 2020. If he does, he should forget about 2024.”
