GNAT increases monthly Cancer Fund contributions for teachers

Teachers’ monthly Cancer Fund payments have been increased by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) from GH2 to GH5.

This means that starting in January 2022, the Cancer Fund donations will be GH5 instead of GH2.

The decision to raise the Cancer Fund was accepted at the Association’s National Delegates Conference, which took place from the 2nd to the 9th of January 2022 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Great Hall in Kumasi.

The GNAT Cancer Fund was increased to GH5.00 by the National Delegates Conference, according to the Association’s resolution.

The Association previously said in a notification that the existing monthly payment by teachers is insufficient to keep the cancer fund afloat as requests continue to rise.

According to the Association’s leadership, the existing monthly payment of GH2.00 per teacher should be increased to GH5.00 per month.

The cancer center, according to the Association, handles all sorts of malignancies except cancer of the blood, but patients with this type of cancer will be reimbursed for their treatment costs by the cancer fund. The fund’s benefit lasts for the rest of one’s life, even after retirement.
