Ghanaian music executive Hammer the Last 2 has urged the government to place value on the creative industry just as it does on other sectors like mining.
One of the sectors in Ghana that is seen as important and is mostly prioritized by the government is the mining sector. The fight for Galamsey is currently ongoing as the queen of Galamsey is currently standing trial.
Hammer in an interview with George Quaye on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z Show, spoke about why the government should prioritize the creative industry.
“Government is not putting a value on the creative arts yet. You see if the government really understands the potential of the creative arts they would treat it like the mining industry”, he said.
Hammer the Last 2 has urged the government to channel its energy to the creative industry because it is equally lucrative. He explained that “the mining industry, their money be fiscal … so they put more prominence on that industry forgetting that the creative arts industry is as lucrative as the mining industry”.
