Gov’t has provided Free WiFi in 710 High Schools to promote quality education – VEEP Bawumia

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has said the government in its quest to promote quality education has provided 710 high schools across the country with Free WiFi connections.

According to him, the government has made and will continue to make massive investment in the education sector in order to drive growth and to ensure every citizen is duly educated.

Speaking at the 60th Speech and Prize Giving Day at the Navrongo Senior High School, VEEP Bawumia said the government will not only provide infrastructure and Free WiFi but also ensure that the quality of tuition imp[proves with the provision of laptops to teachers.

“Quality education can only be achieved with adequate investment in educational infrastructure.” On the basis of this understanding, the government, led by H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has embarked on over 3,000 different educational infrastructure projects across the country, with nearly half of them already completed. “Around 164 educational projects have been undertaken in the Upper East Region, with 57 percent of them already completed,” he revealed.

“We are also investing in the provision of appropriate technology to digitalize the learning and teaching experience, in order to prepare our teachers and students to fully benefit from the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” the Vice President added.

“The government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to providing quality education and a conducive environment for teaching and learning, particularly in this Fourth Industrial Revolution era.”

That is why, including NAVASCO, we have provided free Wi-Fi in 710 Senior High Schools across the country. In addition, there is free Wi-Fi in 46 colleges of education and 13 public universities. 350,000 laptop computers have also been distributed to teachers across the country. “We will do even more to make teaching and learning more accessible and relevant to current trends,” he added.
