Dear friends, colleagues, and mga kaubang Negorense,
It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to all of you on the passing of Governor Guido Reyes. His sudden departure has left us all in a state of shock and profound sadness. As we mourn the loss of a great leader, we are reminded of the fragility of life.
Governor Reyes was not only a respected figure in our province but also a dear friend and ally to my late husband, Governor Roel Ragay Degamo. Their friendship and collaboration were emblematic of their dedication to public service and their shared vision for the betterment of our province. Together, they worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of our people and address the challenges our community faced.
The loss of Governor Reyes is particularly poignant for me as it revives the pain of my own personal tragedy, the passing of my beloved husband Governor Roel Degamo. Like Governor Reyes, he was a committed public servant who selflessly devoted himself to the welfare of our province. Their partnership and camaraderie were an inspiration to us all, reflecting the power of unity and collaboration in effecting positive change.
In this time of mourning, let us come together as a community to honor the legacies of Governor Reyes and Governor Degamo. May their unwavering dedication to public service and their passion for creating a brighter future for our people serve as a guiding light for us all. Let us remember the profound impact they had on our lives, the progress they brought, and the values they instilled in us.
To the family, friends, and loved ones of Governor Reyes, I offer my deepest sympathies. I know that words cannot fully assuage the pain of your loss, but I hope that you find solace in the knowledge that Governor Reyes’ legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts and minds of those he touched.
As we grieve together, let us also find strength in the unity of our community and the memory of these exceptional leaders. Together, we can carry forward their work and ensure that their vision for our province lives on.
With profound sadness and shared grief,
Mayor Janice Degamo
