The Youth in Nkoranza has clashed with the Police following the unrest that arose after the death of 28-year-old Albert Donkor.
Albert Donkor was deemed an armed robber and was picked up by the Police in his home on April 25, 2022.
Several attempts by his mother to trace the whereabouts of her son proved futile until she was later told by the same Police officers who said they knew nothing about his whereabouts that he had died.
According to the mother, she was told by the Police that her son died as a result of a gun battle with the Police.
Angered by the alleged killing of Albert by the police, the youth in Nkoranza took to the streets to vent their spleen on the local police headquarters.
The youth burnt tires as they blocked a section of the main Ejura-Nkoranza road in front of the police headquarters whiles demanding justice for their slain brother.
This escalating situation led to the Police reinforcement team firing gunshots at the protesting youths who pelted the armed officers with stones and clubs.
One person has been confirmed dead whilst nine persons, including three in critical condition, are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Hospital, following the clash.
