Songstress Jacqueline Acheampong, known within the scope of showbiz as Gyakie has shared what she does ritualistically anytime she wants to drop an album.
She told DJ Reuben in an interview on Kumasi-based Luv FM that she fasts and prays before releasing most of her songs. In other words, she is very religious and she attaches that measure to her professional career.
“One thing we don’t joke with is fasting and prayers. I wouldn’t say all the releases, I think that most of the songs that come out whenever we do remember we do fast towards it,” Gyakie told the host during a recent interview.
Gyakie was raised in a musical family and began working with her father in the recording studio when she was eight years old. Asa and Ghanaian musician Omar Sterling of R2Bees had an impact on her as well.
In February 2019, Gyakie released “Love is Pretty,” her debut single, followed by “Never Like This.” In August 2020, she released the five-track EP Seed. On the Seed EP, the song “Forever” received radio in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria.
It topped music charts like the Top 200 Shazam charts and the Top Triller Global charts from Billboard. In March 2021, Gyakie and Nigerian artist Omah Lay released a remix of “Forever.”
She received the emerging lady of the year award that same month at the 2021 3Music Women’s Brunch for the 3Music Awards.
