The 2020 parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ayawaso West constituency in the Greater Accra Region, John Dumelo, has made a promise to the youth.

According to him, he will reinvest 50 per cent of his salary as MP in the youth. He will do so by setting up a football team to unearth and groom the talents in his constituency.

John Dumelo made this promise at the launch of his campaign ahead of the December 7 general election at the Bawaleshie School Park on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at 3:00 pm, in the presence of thousands of NDC members and sympathizers.

“When I enter Parliament, I’d give half of my salary to Ayawaso West Wuogon. The first thing I’ll do with that 50% [of my salary] is to establish a football team in Ayawaso West Wuogon,” he pointed out.

It’s time to create the West Wuogon Football Club so that the footballers here can also get the opportunity to play in the [Ghana] Premier League and also go abroad.” He promised.

The event which was anchored by the Communications Officer of the NDC, Mr Sammy Gyamfi was charged and pumped up which in effect made John Dumelo promise more for the people of Ayawaso West in a bid to unseat Madam Lydia Alhassan, the incumbent MP.

“Last year, when I won the primaries, I got to work and I can confidently tell you that things are happening in Ayawaso West Wuogon. We are sharing laptops; not that when we come, we will share, we are already sharing laptops.

We are already creating jobs. They claim that One District One Factory. I don’t see any factories in Ayawaso West Wuogon. I will make that factory and produce that factory in Ayawaso West Wuogon.” John Dumelo added.

John Dumelo has been an active member of the NDC since 2012 when he officially announced his affiliation publicly. He campaigned publicly for the NDC and Mahama in the lead-up to the 2016 election and is looking forward to representing a section of Ghanaians in Ghana’s parliament after December 7.

Many political analysts have predicted a surprise in the Ayawaso West constituency as far as the election is concerned and believe the popularity and appeal of John Dumelo may affect the outcome.
