Heartbreaking: Pregnant women and lactating mothers sleep on the floor due lack of beds in major hospitals [Video]

The lack of beds in major hospitals in Ghana has become a syndrome that is eating into the delivery of quality healthcare in the country.

This phenomenon gives an overall account of the breakdown in Ghana’s health sector, lack of beds and medical equipment at hospitals, lack of empathy from some medical officials and the failure on the side of mothers to properly plan their pregnancies.

A video shared by Prince Henry Koforidua on Twitter gives a sorry account of pregnant women and lactating mothers who are left to sleep o the floor. Those who can afford are seen sleeping uncomfortably on some makeshift beds.

These expectant mothers are dressed shabbily, uncared for and left to their own fate. This unhygienic condition will clearly worsen their health and add more complication to their already fragile frames.

BELOW is the Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region in focus but it gives a clear picture of the poor nature of health delivery in hospitals and clinics in Ghana. This is an eyesore.
