Nigerian singer and ‘Essence’ co-writer Temilade Openiyi, known by his stage name as Tems has stage divulged her relationship with one of Hiphpo’s most successful artiste Drake
Rumours about probably being in a relationship started to fly began when they were seen together in September of last year at a restaurant shortly after they collaborated.
During a Beat FM interview with the artist, one of the hosts inquired as to whether he had pursued her.
Tems replied in the negative, claiming that while Drake is a decent man who is honest with his friends, she “egbons everyone.”
The Grammy-winning singer went on to say that she considers other people she knows, including the Canadian rap star, to be her brothers.
Similarly, Tems recently revealed her past struggles in a fresh interview which is laden with profound inspiration.
Speaking to GQ magazine, Tems said she used to visit an aunt to get food which she would then take home.
She said; “There were times when I was not just broke; I was broke and hopeless. I used to steal food. I used to go to my aunty’s house just so she could give me food to take home.
“I just felt like, What is the point of me existing right now? You have to remember those times. Because that person does not exist anymore.”
Also, Tems said that the year she released “Mr Rebel”, she living alone and struggling financially, noting that she was putting pressure on herself to assist with providing for her family.
She left her work to concentrate on music, which made matters more difficult because she would no longer be able to meet everyone’s needs due to the lack of a secure, permanent career.
Tems further added that in order to realize her goals of having a prosperous music career, she had to embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth.
