“I am not the best comedian in Ghana” – Clemento Suarez refuses to show pride

Clemento Suarez, a highly-rated Ghanaian comedian, has humbly said he does not see himself as the best thing to ever happen to Ghana as far as the current comedy industry is concerned.

According to him, although he is a fine comedian, he does not see himself up and above his colleagues in the industry and does not rate himself above any imagined threshold.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the Delay Show, Clemento Suarez said the fact that he is in the limelight for obvious reasons does not make him the best.

“If Ghanaians would rate me among the top three it is fine but I will not count myself among the top three if I am asked to.

You see, the industry is such that when you are fortunate to be in the limelight, you are seen as the best, but then for us who are in the circles, we know that people are working,” he said

With a high sense of humility and sobriety, Clemento Suarez made mention of the comedians he believes are way ahead and better than he is.

He mentioned Kwadwo Nkansah (Lilwin) and Bismark Odoi (Bismark The Joke) as the best when it comes to comic acting and OB Amponsah and Foster Romanus; when it comes to standup comedy.

Clemento Suarez also mentioned two of America’s top comedians: Kevin Hart and Bill Cosby as the ones he looks up to.

Meanwhile, Clement Ashitey as he is originally called is regarded as the new face of Ghana comedy. Many describe his art as organic and free-flowing which is not backed by any cosmetic or artificial display of wit.
