Despite Ras Kuuku’s apparent prominence in Ghana, gospel performer Joe Mettle has confessed that he had never heard of him.

He finally found out who Ras Kuuku was after hearing about his lost Vodafone Ghana Music Awards trophy in 2020.

In an interview with Andy Dosty, Joe Mettle, the 2017 VGMA Artiste of the Year, revealed that he never knew Ras Kuuku and would not have heard of him if his plaque hadn’t gone stolen.

“I didn’t know Ras Kuuku until his award got missing.”

Ras Kuuku and Joe Mettle have been exchanging barbs and it got worse after Ras Kuuku went insane following Joe Mettle’s nomination for the Artist of the Year at the previous VGMAs.

He said that the gospel singer did not fit within this group. Joe Mettle responded by saying that Ras Kuuku will get over it after a while.

“if he were also nominated, they would do the same to him, so it’s a regular thing, and I wouldn’t expect less.

“The point is, no matter who appears in the category, there have been years where people are said not to deserve to be in a particular category; every year, it does come up, so I don’t feel like this is new in terms of how some people feel.”
