‘I have become a victim of a political witch hunt by elements in NPP’ — Adwoa Safo finally speaks

Sarah Adwoa Safo, MP for Dome-Kwabenya, says she’s a “victim of a continuous political witch hunt by some NPP and Parliament elements to pursue their own selfish interests.”

Joseph Osei-Owusu, chairman of Parliament’s Privileges Committee, ruled Dome-seat Kwabenya’s empty when Adwoa Safo failed to appear before the committee.

Adwoa Safo was invited together with Kennedy Agyapong and Henry Quartey for missing more than 15 consecutive sittings without the Speaker’s consent.

Adwoa Safo didn’t come before the Privileges Committee like Kennedy Agyapong and Henry Quartey. Both MPs were pardoned.

Adwoa Safo’s failure to attend before the Committee is unknown, although she told Joy News she hadn’t gotten any notification from Parliament to do so.

Adwoa Safo, speaking on her absence in Parliament and Joseph Osei-bid Owusu’s to declare her seat empty, said she has become a victim of a political witch hunt by some NPP and Parliament members to pursue their own selfish interests.

In a Facebook post, she couldn’t understand why Danquah-Busia-Dombo members are refusing to defend her for missing official tasks, although unintentionally.

“We did this out of sympathy for the children and didn’t complain about her absence,” she claimed.

This gets me wondering whether it’s because I’m a woman who needs time off to deal with personal concerns too sensitive to mention publicly.

“In light of all this, I’ve wondered why I’ve been treated differently by our party leadership in Parliament and at the party level,” Adwoa Safo said.

She said, “As a party member, I’ve served with the greatest dedication (in opposition and in administration) and placed my family’s money at the party’s disposal.”

“Never have I or my family concealed anything from our great Party, but now I have conveniently labelled a traitor and all sorts of slurs with various plans to depose me as MP and Minister.”

“We must unite. Everyone’s help is required to break the eight. She continued, “We can’t give up.”
