“I moved to Dubai for a better life only to become a watchman instead” – Young man laments

In a recent social media post, a young guy spoke up about his path from high school to working in the real estate industry.

He shared on his LinkedIn page that he had relocated to Dubai in 2015 in quest of better pastures but had ended up working as a Security Guard due to a lack of employment opportunities.

In order to alleviate his dissatisfaction with his current position, he began taking several classes.

“Originally from the United Kingdom, I moved to Dubai in 2015 to work as a security guard with G4S. I was dissatisfied with my job and decided to hunt for another one. Took a few courses (health and safety management, leadership, etc.) and completed them.”

Cyril afterwards had the opportunity to be assigned to a real estate firm as a security guard, which is where he acquired an interest in the field.

When the chance to work in the sector presented itself, he started reading different sales books to pass the time.

“I got my hands on Rami Tabbara’s sales training booklet, which I found to be rather good. I read it all while working as a security guard, and I’ll pay attention to the property consultant selling their customers while on patrol.”

Cyril eventually started looking for positions with the same business where he had previously worked as a telesales executive, but he was denied on multiple occasions before receiving his first positive response.
