Ghanaian Hiplife/Hiphop artiste, Kwesi Arthur has recalled that he nearly became a watchman (the local parlance for security man) at some point in his life.
According to the artiste who won the Hip Hop Song of the Year award at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, times were so hard that he couldn’t even pay to get his WASSCE certificate after completing school.
The rapper told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Wednesday that even though he gained admission to the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), however, his parents couldn’t afford the fees and so he had no option than to find alternative means to survive.
He disclosed that he had people offering him menial jobs to do and at a point in time he had an offer to be a security guard at Ashaiman.
“I’m glad I stuck to this (music) through all the trials and the stuff people were telling me. People offered me jobs to be a security guard and stuff, I almost went for the job. They even called me once to come for my uniform.”
