Mr. Jacob Partey, the father of Arsenal and Black Stars influential midfielder Thomas Partey has recounted how he engaged his son on the phone before their epic clash against Nigeria last Tuesday in Abuja.
The match ended 1-1 but Ghana advanced to the World Cup to be staged in Qatar courtesy of a thunderous shot from Thomas Partey in the 11th minute which squirmed under the body of the keeper Francis Uzoho.
Jacob Partey told Angel TV stated that his son told him before the game that he was going to score to make all Ghanaians proud.
“I called my son when I heard on the news that the lights at the stadium in Abuja were off, he assured me that everything will be fine.
I then prayed for him, that God should be with him. He respond to me that he was going to score and make us proud.”
Meanwhile, other African countries that joined Ghana in the 2022 World Cup are Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, and Cameroon.
The draw for the tournament takes place on Friday 1 April 2022, at the DECC venue in Doha, Qatar at circa 5 pm BST.
