I Wasn’t Allowed To Visit My Son – Mother Of Dead KNUST Student Finally Speaks

Few days ago, a final year student at the KNUST Senior high school was reported dead after the school authorities neglected him when he was sick.

The Ghana Education Service went ahead to terminate the appointment of the school’s headmistress. Well, the mother of the deceased has finally opened up about what caused the death of her son, Richard Sam.

According to Madam Comfort in an interview on Angel FM, her son had severe ulcer conditions which was brought to her attention on Tuesday night after it was too late to do anything about it.

Madam Comfort recounted how she was prevented from seeing her son when she paid him a visit on Sunday, July 5.

“I was prevented from seeing my child on Sunday, just a day before the incident. The security men at the gate drove me away like chicken,” she alleged in her native language, Asante.

Madam Comfort further alleged that  she had to go back home sad with all that she had brought for the boy, because the security men were given strict instruction not to allow parents on campus as directed by government.

The mother of the deceased furthered that even though the issue happened in the morning of Monday, she was only called and informed about the child’s situation in the evening when the issue had gotten out of hand.

Madam Comfort  refuted claims by the school authorities that she asked them not to give the boy any first aid or send him to hospital.

“The boy who was suffering from severe stomachache was left in the hands of colleague students for several hours without any move by the school authorities to get first aid administered on him…they killed my son”. madam Comfort sadly narrated.

Whilst some students were seen in a viral video trying to save the life of their colleague, some teachers were spotted standing distance away as many feared the boy might have contracted the deadly coronavirus.

Meanwhile the Ghana Education Service are still conducting an investigation into the matter.
