In regards to dating and relationships, Ari Lennox has acknowledged that she lacks confidence and that she felt “unattractive” because she “wanted love so desperately.”
On March 9, the R&B performer acknowledged via Twitter that she might have harmed her self-esteem while looking for love.
Ari said that it has caused her to feel “blind and weak,” which made her “dangerously trusting.”
“Have I made myself unattractive by wanting love so bad?” she asked. “By speaking about it? Complaining about it? I wish I didn’t crave it.”
Ari continued: “I wish it didn’t make me blind, weak, and so dangerously trusting. I wish I had no love inside of me. Wish I didn’t have emotions. Wish I didn’t care.”
Known by her real name Courtney Shanade Salter, Ari Lennox is an American R&B singer who was born in Washington, DC. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole’s record label, Dreamville Records.
She began to gain notoriety after her debut EP, Pho, was released by the company in 2016. On Cole’s single “Change” that same year, she gave an uncredited guest appearance.
Courtney Shanade Salter was born on March 26, 1991, in Washington, D.C. to Gloria Salter and Shane Salter and spent her formative years in the DMV area. She attended Wilson High School and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Her stage name was influenced by Mary Lennox, a character in the film adaptation of The Secret Garden (1993).
