I’m disappointed that “corrupt” Ken Ofori Atta has been approved as Finance Minister – Isaac Adongo says as he breaks ranks with Minority

MP for Bolga Central Isaac Adongo has said he feels disappointed that Ken Ofori Atta has been approved as Finance Minister.

According to him, the Minority Caucus which he belongs should have rejected him as Finance Minister because he feels Ken Ofori Atta is corrupt and incompetent.

Speaking to the media, the Deputy Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament, said he has strong doubts about Ken Ofori Atta and let to him alone, he wouldn’t be approved.

“I have stayed out of the media because of the question of why we approved Ken Ofori-Atta. I did not want to drag my name in the mad when I do not have control over the processes leading to the approval of one of my fiercest critics. He can put GHS 100 billion in this room and I will get him out as a Finance Minister, but that is not my decision”, he lamented.

Mr Isaac Adongo, however, added that he will continue to expose the Finance Minister and how he manages Ghana’s economy especially when he believes he is not right for the job.

“As for Ken Ofori-Atta, we have another four years of battle ahead of us, and we are ready for him. I am not going to be daunted because Ofori-Atta has been approved and people are asking why if he was corrupt yet was approved. I must continue to hold the government to account. That will not demoralize me, although I know the majority of my people are not happy. I will continue to do my work.”

Ken Ofori Atta was approved by consensus as the Finance Minister after his two-day vetting. He was to appear before Parliament’s Appointment Committee earlier in the month but was rescheduled due to his ill-health
