Indian woman, 24, set to marry herself; plans to go on 2-week honeymoon

A woman from India, Kshama Bindu is set to marry herself- what is technically called sologamy scheduled for June 11, 2022.

The wedding will follow the same pattern as conventional weddings in the country but the only difference is that the groom and the bride is one person. 

The excited woman while anticipating the historic wedding which could be a precedent told reporters: “Ever since my teens, I never wanted to get married. The tradition, somehow, never appealed to me. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself. It’s called Sologamy.”

According to Daily Mail, the uncommon wedding ceremony will be attended by her family and friends.

The 24-year-old had also said that the marriage will be a deep act of self-acceptance and that she will dedicate herself to a life of self-love, before taking herself for a two-week honeymoon.

According to Wikipedia, Sologamy or autogamy is marriage by a person to themselves. Supporters of the practice argue that it affirms one’s own value and leads to a happier life. An alternative term is self-marriage, but this may also refer to a self-uniting marriage, which is a marriage without an officiant.
