Noah Schnapp, one of the child actors of Netflix’s smash series “Stranger Things,” came out on to the internet Thursday utilizing a TikTok trend.

Schnapp, 18, released a video to his verified account including famous audio where individuals recount important life events that weren’t “that serious.” In his, he talked about coming out as homosexual to his family.

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,'” Schnapp wrote in the video.

Schnapp portrays Will Byers, a central character in the show about a group of adolescents in the 1980s who battle otherworldly beings.

Fans of the show have wondered all season whether Will is closeted since he seems to be in love with Mike Wheeler, his closest buddy. When asked about the fan hypothesis in a July interview with Variety, Schnapp verified it.

He told the outlet that writers began hinting at Will’s sexuality in the first season.

“Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay, and he does love Mike,” Schnapp said. “But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.”
