Is Sex Before Marriage Really A Sin?

In some chapters of the Bible, it declares that having sex before marriage is a sin. One is found in 1 Corinthians 7:2, which states that since sexual immorality is here, each man should have intercourse with his own wife and each woman with her own husband. This scripture describes marriage as the “treatment” for immoral sexual behaviour.

Marriage-based sexual union, which is encouraged, is contrasted with immoral behaviour, which is to be avoided. So, any sex that occurs outside of marriage is viewed as immoral. Premarital sex would have to be a part of this.

Sex Before Marriage In The Bible

Even though it is one of Christianity’s most obvious prohibitions, it is difficult to find scripture that addresses it. Many might cite Exodus 20:14, one of the Ten Commandments, which states, “You shalt not commit adultery.” However, the topic of this verse is having sex with someone else’s spouse.

Others may refer to Leviticus 18, known as the “sex chapter,” which covers all types of aberrant behaviour that devalues the gift of sex, including be*****, incest, threesomes, pornography, and other sexual crimes.

1 Corinthians 7:2. Sex before marriage is expressly included in the thought of sexual immorality. In fact, every verse in the Bible that denounces sexual immorality as evil also forbids having sex before tying the knot.

Numerous verses in the Bible say having sexual relations before being married is wrong (1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13, 18; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Acts 15:20; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3). Unmarried Christian men who want to remain faithful are presumed to be refraining from having sex in Revelation 14:4.

Sex that occurs outside of marriage is viewed as immoral in Hebrews 13:4. God will judge those who engage in sexual immorality and adultery, so let marriage be respected by all parties and the marriage bed remain pure. For those of you asking, the definition includes oral sex.

Oral sex is not actually sex, young people are frequently advised about the affection of oral sex. The opposite is true: oral sex is sex and should also be enjoyed within the boundaries of marriage.

Neither spouse should feel pressured or manipulated into doing something they are not entirely comfortable with. Within the boundaries of marriage, oral sex is acceptable, but that is the subject of a different article.

Is It Still A Sin To Have Sex Before Marriage?

It is acknowledged that having sex outside of marriage is wrong. Flee from sexual immorality for the Lord is highly against it. While every other sin a person commits occurs outside of the body, sexually immoral behaviour occurs inside the body and the Bible has spoken and preached against it.
