Broadcaster Serwaa Amihere has described the action by the police to prevent NDC MPs from submitting their petition to the Electoral Commission as disrespectful.
According to her, it wasn’t right for the police to heckle Members of Parliament the way they did since that is a show of gross disrespect.
In a tweet, Serwaa Amihere said the NDC MPs caused no harm by trying to present an election petition to the EC thus the police did wrong by preventing them with brute force.
“So can’t @GhPoliceService treat MPs with a little more respect and not heckle them on their way to present a petition? What harm is there in presenting a petition? Is this a democracy or what?” she questioned.
Earlier today MPs of the minority caucus of Ghana’s parliament were prevented by the police to submit their petition to the Electoral Commission over their belief that the 2020 election figures are not the true reflection of the votes cast by the citizenry.
