It Is Not The End- CAF Consoles Nigeria

Following their loss in their match Against La Côte d’Ivoire, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has consoled Nigerians.

CAF has said that Nigerians should not be tickled by their inability to win the just-ended 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations tournament.

According to CAF, Nigeria’s loss against La Côte d’Ivoire does not necessarily mean that their lives have come to an end.

They are of the view that since football still exists, Nigeria can one day also win the African Cup of Nations tournament.

CAF claims this is just the end of the competition and not the end of everything.

La Côte d’Ivoire Wins 34th Edition of AFCON

La Côte d’Ivoire has moved from zero to hero as they have emerged as the winners in the just-ended 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations tournament after their win against Nigeria in the final match.

La Côte d’Ivoire played the final match with Nigeria on 11th February 2024 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan .

In the 38 minutes, Nigeria’s defender and captain, William Troost-Ekong, scored with a header to a corner making Nigeria lead with a goal.

Franck Kessie equalized in the 62nd minute for Ivory Coast making the scores 1 for Nigeria and 1 for La Côte d’Ivoire.

Sebastien Haller scored the winning goal nine minutes from the end as host Ivory Coast came from behind to claim a third Africa Cup of Nations title with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the final.

Taking to their official social media handles, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that La Côte d’Ivoire has won the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations.

They posted a group picture of the team of La Côte d’Ivoire and captioned it “Côte d’Ivoire are crowned African Champions for the third time in their history!”
