Turner began his professional MMA career in 2016 after amassing a 5-2 amateur record. He competed mostly in his native California. Before being signed by the UFC, he amassed a record of 7-3, including a technical knockout victory against Noah Tillis in Bellator 192.

On October 6, 2018, at UFC 229, Turner faced Vicente Luque in his professional MMA debut. He was knocked out in the opening round of the fight.

Turner has Alex Gorgees on the schedule for his second UFC fight at UFC 234. On January 23, 2019, it was revealed that Callan Potter had taken Gorgees’ position in the fight after Gorgees withdrew. Turner was knocked out in the opening round of the fight. On April 13, 2019, Turner and Matt Frevola squared off at UFC 236. He was defeated in the fight by a consensus vote.

Turner was supposed to take on Jamie Mullarkey at UFC Fight Night 168 on February 23, 2020. Nevertheless, Mullarkey had to leave the fight due to an injury, and Joshua Culibao took his place. By technical knockout in the second round, Turner prevailed.
