Joan Templeman is a famous Scottish businesswoman and best known as the wife of singer-songwriter and philanthropist Sir Richard Branson.
Joan Templeman is the co-founder of Virgin Management, a company that manages the Virgin Group’s many businesses. She has also served as a director on various boards, including Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Records, and Virgin Mobile.
Joan Templeman began her career in the late 1960s as a secretary for a small advertising agency in London.
She then moved to the United States, where she worked as a receptionist for an international law firm in New York City.
In the early 1970s, she joined the staff of Rolling Stone magazine, where she worked as an assistant editor and eventually became the magazine’s first female editor-in-chief.
During her tenure at Rolling Stone, Templeman wrote several articles and interviewed many prominent musicians and celebrities.
She also helped launch the magazine’s successful spin-off publication, RS2. After leaving Rolling Stone in 1979, Templeman went on to work as a freelance writer and editor for various publications.
