Jordan Ayew has recently spoken out about the misconception that he never smiles and always appears serious.
The talented footballer, who is the son of the legendary Abedi Pele, explained that his unwavering dedication to his profession often leads others to perceive him as being solemn and unsmiling.
Ayew admitted that the main reason people hardly ever see him smile is because of his unrelenting concentration on the game. However, he made it clear that he is making a conscious effort to change this part of his life. He made known recently in Q&A.
“It’s [my smile] something I try to work on. My mum, my aunties, it’s something that they complain about. [They say] cheer up, enjoy life. You’re doing a wonderful job. Obviously, I’m on the pitch and I can’t really smile when I’m on the pitch because I’m working So it’s hard for me to smile but it’s something that I’m working on. It doesn’t mean I’m not happy or I’m angry with someone. It’s just my way of focusing on the game and when I’m focused on the game, I’m just right into the game and there’s nothing else I’m thinking about.”

Despite not having a prolific season, Jordan Ayew recently inked a new deal with Crystal Palace and he has expressed his joy after extending his stay with the Premier League outfit.
Ayew had a contract that was set to expire this summer, but he decided to sign a new one that will keep him with the Eagles through the end of the 2024 season. The 31-year-old attacker, who came to Palace from Swansea City, has played 166 times and has 18 goals to his credit.
“I am glad with the new deal. I’ve been here for nearly five years and it has not always been easy. I just keep going and believe in what I can do,” said Ayew in an interview with London News.
Ayew’s performances on the pitch have earned him the trust of Palace fans, as he was voted the club’s Player of the Season for 2019/2020.
