Justin Rose is an English professional golfer who plays most of his golf on the PGA Tour while keeping his membership on the European Tour.
Justin Rose biography
Rose was born to English parents Annie and Ken in Johannesburg, South Africa (who died of cancer in 2003). When Rose was five years old, the family relocated to England, where he began playing golf at Tylney Park Golf Club. Southwood Golf Club, Hartley Wintney Golf Club, and North Hants Golf Club were the next stops for him. These clubs were all close to his former residence in Hook, Hampshire.
Justin Rose Career
After going pro, Rose had a difficult start to his career. In his first 21 contests in a row, including the European Tour qualifying round in 1998, he failed to make the cut. When he placed fourth in the qualifying tournament in 1999, he was awarded his first European Tour card. He was forced to return to qualifying school where he placed ninth the next season after failing to keep his card.
Rose’s career soon started to take off and he established himself on the European Tour despite his early challenges. In South Africa, where he was born, he won consecutive seconds to start the season that year. On the Order of Merit, he eventually finished the year in the top 40.
In 2002, he triumphed in his first professional competition, the Dunhill Championship in South Africa, and added three more victories to his tally for the year. He won the Crowns Tournament on the Japanese Golf Tour, the Nashua Masters in South Africa, and the Victor Chandler British Masters on the European Tour. In the final round, he defeated Ian Poulter to claim the title.
