Born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor also known as Kareem Abdul-Jabber is a well known American professional basketball player and Collegiate born on April 16, 1947 in New York of the United States of America. Born christian Parents, He converted into Islam and changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar while in UCLA.

Kareem Abdul-Jabber career

Kareem as a professional basketball player played for Power Memorial Academy on the varsity for four years. He also lead UCLA to three National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships from 1967 to 1969.

He then joined the National Basketball Association Milwaukee Bucks for the 1969 to 1970 season. In 1975, Kareem was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, who won the NBA championship in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988.

Kareem end his career in baseball in the 1988-1989 season. He was voted as NBA Most Valuable Player. He has so far set NBA records for most points. His most field goals made is 38,387 and 15,837 as the most minutes played in addition to 57.446 at the Rhine of his retirement.

He was also elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995 and was tagged as the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 2996.

In addition to basketball, Kareem appeared in movies and also engaged in writing of books. Some of his films he featured in are comedy Airplane where he played the role of a pilot in 1980.

As an author, he writes the book titled Giant Steps which was published in 1983. Kareem’s books on African American experience are Black Profile in Courage: A Legacy of African_American Achievement in 1996. Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion, WWII’s Forgotten Heroes in 2004. On the Shoulders of Giants: My Personal Journey Through the Harlem Renaissance in 2007. And many more books.

The fourth child is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the Swedish way of neurosurgery. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of California at San Francisco in 2012. Currently, he is based in Washington state.
