Kasoa Killing: ‘You’re my friend, so why are you killing me with a block?’ – Suspects reveal 10-year-old’s final question [Details]

The Kaneshie District Court has revealed disturbing details about how two teenagers murdered a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa, Central Region.

During the hearing, Felix Nyarko aka Yaw Anane told the judge, Rosemond Agyiri, how he and his accomplice, Nicholas Kwami Kani, murdered Ishmael Abdullah.

The minor testified in court that the night before the murder, they smoked Indian Hemp (Wee) and fell asleep.

The two desperate teenagers had contacted a fetish priest they had seen on television. The priest asked for a human body and 5000 dollars.

Their initial plan, according to him, was to kidnap “his friend” and demand a ransom of 5000 from his family.

Felix stated that they were about to kidnap their victim on the Wednesday before April 3, 2021, murder, but Ishmael Abdullah’s mother called her son, so “I was not able to kidnap him as we planned.”

The 15-year-old told the court that on the day of the incident, he had persuaded the victim that his accomplice had received a new video game and had told him to follow him to where Nicholas was so they could play the game.

The minor stated that when they arrived at the unfinished building, Nicholas was already waiting for them and assisted the victim in climbing into the room.

“When we got there, Nicholas told Ishmael (victim) that the game was in the sack over there so Nicholas bent down to pick the game from the sack. Nicholas then used a club to hit the back of his head and he fell to the floor, unable to speak. We dragged him closer to us and Nicholas hit him again with the club,” he said.

Although the suspect’s sister heard a noise and came over to inquire what had happened, she walked towards the unfinished building, but “I told her it was nothing so she should go back,” according to the suspect.

Yaw Anane stated that he then chose a block and, as he was about to strike Ishmael Abdullah, “he asked me, ‘you that you are my good friend, why are you doing this to me?'” “What did I do to you?”

Nonetheless, he stated that he struck the victim with the block but that he was still breathing.

The minor stated that he then brought two shovels and dug a shallow hole before dropping the victim inside.

He stated that because they realized the deceased was still breathing, they added more sand while he was still alive.

Felix Nyarko stated that he had chosen another block but heard his mother calling him, so he dropped it and exited the unfinished building, leaving Nicholas behind.

He told the court that he later went to get water for his mother and when he returned, he was confronted by his parents, who questioned how he could have done what he did.

The accused described in court the events that led to the discovery of the body, as well as how angry residents of the area subjected them to severe beatings in the aftermath of the incident.

The prosecution, led by State Attorney Nana Adoma Osei, presented the court with exhibits on Monday that included one shovel, one spade, a club, pieces of cement block, pictures of sand mixed with blood, investigation caution statements of accused persons, pictures of the deceased, and photographs of the crime scene that they intend to use in the main trial.

The court then decided that “based on the statements you made this afternoon, I believe it is necessary to commit you to stand trial.”

The two are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Meanwhile, the two have admitted to killing a pregnant woman many years ago.
