Kate garraway husband: Meet Derek Draper and Ian Rumsey

Kathryn Mary Draper Garraway MBE, an English journalist and broadcaster, was born on May 4, 1967.

Garraway worked as a journalist for ITV News Central in the 1990s before becoming a co-host of ITV News Meridian. Co-presenting GMTV from 2000 to 2010, she did so.

Presenting Mid Mornings with Kate Garraway on Smooth Radio and serving as newsreader and co-anchor of ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Thursdays and Fridays, respectively, are Garraway’s current roles.
Garraway’s mother was a teacher, while her father worked in government. She went to Fitzharrys School and Dunmore Primary School in Abingdon. She later earned a degree in English and History from Bath College of Higher Education now Bath Spa University.

Career of Kate Garraway 

Garraway began working as a production journalist, reporter, and news presenter on ITV Central’s South edition of ITV News Central in 1989. She was “talent found” by a manager who saw her giving a three-minute report on ITV Central in 1996, and she went on to co-host the South East edition of ITV News Meridian on ITV Meridian.

Kate Garraway joined Sunrise on Sky News in 1998 alongside Martin Stanford. Kate Garraway began working for GMTV in September 2000, co-hosting GMTV Today every Friday with Andrew Castle (and Thursdays later on).

Later, Kate Garraway collaborated on hosting responsibilities with Fiona Phillips and Emma Crosby. She co-hosted GMTV with Ben Shephard when it reopened in 2009, appearing on alternate Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Kate Garraway Husbands 

Kate Garraway has been married twice. Her husbands are Iam Rumsey and Derek Draper. From 1998 to 2002, Kate Garraway was married to Ian Rumsey, her former ITV Meridian employer.

Garraway then married  Derek Draper in Camden, London, in September 2005. Draper was at the center of the “Lobbygate” incident and served as Peter Mandelson’s political assistant in the old Labour cabinet. They have a son and a daughter, Darcey, and they reside in north London.

Draper was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March 2020, and as of March 2021, he was still hospitalized and in a critical condition.

This is an unusually severe case of Long COVID. Garraway claimed that because of the multiple physical issues brought on by COVID-19, he “may never heal” and may have “no quality of life.”
