Kenyan Socialite Quits bleaching, Says She’s Happy To Being Black Now

Bleaching is the use of substances to lighten the color of skin. Many agents for skin whitening are a significant risk to health, including mercury-based methods.

This unhealthy practice is common in Africa especially in Ghana and although there are a number of reasons why women bleach (don’t forget men also bleach but only a few), the common factor from our point of view is inferiority complex.

One of Kenyan’s most popular celebrities, Vera Sidika has shared a new photo of herself which she showed she has discovered her ‘natural’ colour.

The socialite cum entrepreneur shared a new photo of herself on Instagram with her skin looking way darker than usual.

She wrote: “Never be defined by your past… It was just a lesson, not a life sentence. Feels good to be back!!! Black don’t crack. #backtoblack #missedmymelanin #stillbeautiful #blackbarbie.”

However, some people were not impressed with her and subsequently called her out by accusing her of editing her photo to look black. Some told her she’s mocking God by easily switching colors back and forth.

Some said she can no longer afford the expensive bleaching cream. While others laughed at her for finally admitting she’s been bleaching and not naturally light-skinned.
