The host of the Vodafone Ghana Music award’s baton has been handed over to Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly called KOD after ace radio & TV presenter, Kwame Safa Kayi turned down the offer to host it.
The former Radio Gold presenter who is now with Starr FM, couldn’t hide his excitement over his ‘appointment’ during an interview with the radio station’s main website starrfm.com.gh.
“I think 20’years is a big celebration and getting those who were part of it from day one is a step in the right direction.
Good news is we’re all still around and jointly sharing that stage and our stories from the last 20 years would also enhance the event. Ghanaians should expect fabulously fun moments when I get on.”
KOD’s selection as the host for the special 20th edition comes as no surprise as he has played pivotal roles in the success of the awards scheme over the years, right from its inception in 1999.
The experienced radio personality served on the selection committee right from its foundation. He was also for a few years the producer of the Ghana Music Awards countdown radio show as well as the first ever red carpet show host.
The 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards comes off at the Accra Intentional Conference Centre (AICC) on May 18, 2019.
