Kofi Kinaata keeps ignoring my collaboration proposal – Ayesem cries out

Takoradi-based rapper Ayesem has claimed that he made a pledge to himself that he would never approach his brother and buddy Kofi Kinaata for a musical collaboration.

The ‘Koti’ hit-maker was replying to why he has never done a song collaboration with Kofi Kinaata — a thing that most music aficionados in the Western Region have been pining for in many years.

Speaking to Nana Adjoa Arthur on Takoradi-based Connect 97.1 FM, Ayesem said that many efforts to get Kofi KInaata on a song together had been unproductive.

He added that Kofi Kinaata has failed to give him good answer on various approaches he has made for a music collaboration.

“I resolved not to speak about this again but yet people [fans] kept asking. Kofi Kinaat is a brother, we go far back, and if he claims I have never sought him for a cooperation, then I don’t know, but it’s up to you guys [media] to find out. You may ask him the amount of songs that I have given to him for cooperation but he ended up not giving me a good answer.

“The first song was “Fante a na Meka” since we were all in Accra at the time, he was thrilled and even brought some ideas on board but didn’t hear from him again. But I got it from someplace that he stated I don’t use the appropriate approach but I don’t understand the right method he was talking about since if he wants me he doesn’t contact my manager [Shocks] we deal straight.

“I recall him giving me a WhatsApp voice message that I should be on his ‘Made In Taadi’ show, it was only a voice note but since we are all brothers, I agreed. So this is the reason why we don’t have a song together.

“I have done my best but there were no favorable answer from him. The last one was when the coronavirus began [2019], I phoned him for a cooperation but he informed me that he has destroyed his studio and if things fall in place then we would be able to do something together and that is what am waiting for, I don’t know if it will be this year or next year.

“I made a pledge to myself not to seek him for a partnership but we are good. I don’t need another artiste to be at the top even though it’s usual in our profession. He has to man up and tell me to the face that he don’t want to undertake a cooperation with me. Even the song that propelled me to popularity, I had no other artiste on it but I created it. But regardless, Kinaata is a brother and we still vibe together.”
