A 21-year-old Hannah Bayiri has been convicted and sentenced by the Bole District Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship, Edward Essel for bathing her ex-lover’s girlfriend with acid.
The accused person was slapped with a fine of 200 penalty units hence in default, she shall serve 24 months imprisonment.
Madam Bayiri pleaded guilty and agreed to pay the Ghc4,000 charge to cater for the victim’s treatment.
Briefing the court, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Sina Banah said that Miss Bayiri abused the victim, Rashida Ibrahim on October 14th during a confrontation on why she was dating a man she’s no more with.
The confrontation got heated hence she poured the acid which was kept in a battle on the victim in the presence of her friends at 10: 40 am.
According to the prosecutor, she was however arrested by some residents of Tinga the same day and was handed to police.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and was later referred to the Bole hospital and currently treating the wounds on her back and chest.
