News broke in the early hours of Monday of Lampard’s sacking by Chelsea.

Results have not been going the way of the Blues, and given the impatience of owner, Roman Abramovich, it was always a matter of when and not if Lampard will be relieved of his duties as Head Coach at the Bridge.

Lampard had been given so much money to spend in the transfer window, having been unable to sign anyone due to the transfer ban on them previously. He resorted to using the academy boys to do the job.

He did bring in the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Harvetz, Edouard Mendy amongst others when the ban got lifted.

And having spent so much, and with appalling results that sees them 9th on the league log trailing leaders Manchester United by 11 points, the Chelsea record goalscorer with 211 goals was always going to be asked to stay away from the management duties.

So we sought to look out for the reactions of the Chelsea stars after Lampard’s sacking by Chelsea was confirmed.

Club captain, Cesar Azpilicueta, who played with Lampard as a teammate and then coached by him, had this to say;

“I have shared many memories with you since 2012, first as team-mate and then as manager. I’ve learned so much from you. I wish you all the best for the future.”

Billy Gilmour, the Scottish youngster who had some good games under Lampard’s management thanked him for believing in him.

“Thank you for giving me an opportunity and for your faith and trust in me. It’s been an honour to learn from you,” he wrote on Twitter.

England International, Ben Chilwell one of Lampard’s signees from Leicester City was full of praise for him for having faith in him and bringing him to the club.

“You believed in me and showed faith to bring me to the club I now love. I will always be grateful. Thank you gaffer,” Chilwell wrote on Twitter.

Veteran Brazilian defender who was snapped up on a free transfer from PSG to shore up the Chelsea defence thanked Lampard for everything he and his people did for him since his arrival.

Silva wrote;

“I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived. As I told you, it seemed like we had been working together for 10 years!! Thank you very much for everything legend”.

New Chelsea Number one goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy also had some praise for Lampard whiles also thanking him for trusting in him and bringing him to the club.

He also wrote on Facebook;

“You called me to Chelsea to be part of your team. As a Chelsea fan, I had a special feeling being managed by you. I want to thank you and your team for the trust you showed me and all the things you taught me. Thank You.”

Young England defender who also found his feet under Lampard Reece James had nothing but praise for the Blues legend for offering him the opportunity to prove himself at the Bridge.

“As a Chelsea Fan growing up I’ve always looked up to you, idolised you. I can’t explain what it’s been like to play under you, the whole journey has been surreal. I cannot thank you enough for putting your trust into me and giving me the opportunity to play for my boyhood club!
Thank you so much for all you have taught me, which I will continue to use throughout the rest of my career.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to live my dream! I’ll forever be thankful,” he wrote.
It is not so often that players get to talk so much about managers who get sacked, but for these stars, Lampard has had so much influence on their careers, so much that they can’t keep quiet but show gratitude to him for what he’s done for them.
Lampard’s sacking by Chelsea has just added to the long list of managers who got axed by the impatient Abramovich who will always do it when the results aren’t coming in.
The former PSG manager, Tomas Tuchel, (who himself got sacked by the Paris club to be replaced by a manager who was once a manager at one of Chelsea London rivals Tottenham, Mauricio Pocchetino) is expected to take charge of the Blues.
Lampard’s sacking by Chelsea came just a day after guiding the side to a 3-1 FA Cup victory over Championship club, Luton Town.
