Lawyer Gabby Otchere-Darko a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party has shared his view on how come former President John Mahama was able to get over 6 million votes in the 2020 election.
This revelation by the defacto Prime Minister comes on the back of the widespread knowledge that Mahama was incompetent and had a very irreparable record.
According to Gabby Otchere-Darko, over 6 million Ghanaians voted for Mahama irrespective of his bad record perhaps for other reasons other than for him to win and lead Ghana as president.
In a tweet, he said he got this question from a curious friend in the States who wanted to know why Mahama was massively voted for in the just-ended election. Juxtaposing Mahama’s situation to that of Donald Trump who lost although he had some great numbers, Gabby said yes Mahama had great numbers but it doesn’t defeat the fact that he is not cut for it and the fact remains that he lost.
“A friend called from the US perplexed as to how 6 million Ghanaians could vote for JM despite his record. I replied, 70 million Americans voted for a leader who advised his citizens to drink bleach against Covid-19. What is important is that both men did not win, I said,” he tweeted.
