In 2010, Trossard transferred from the Bocholt academy to the K.R.C. Genk junior program. He was promoted to the senior team in 2012, and on May 13, 2012, he made his league debut against K.A.A. He only played those three minutes in the league that season. He was constantly loaned out for numerous seasons. He didn’t score his first league goal for Genk until more than four years later, on September 25, 2016, in a 4-1 loss against K.V. Kortrijk.

On June 26, 2019, Brighton reached an agreement to bring in Trossard, who arrived on a four-year contract with an additional year’s option. Trossard joined as the club’s second summer addition after Matt Clarke, who joined from Portsmouth.

On August 17, Trossard made his Seagulls debut, scoring the equalizer in a 1-1 home tie with West Ham United.

However, Trossard’s relationship with the team quickly deteriorated in early January 2023 after manager Roberto De Zerbi threatened to fire the player for skipping a training session. De Zerbi claimed he did not appreciate the player’s demeanour or attitude.

Agent Josy Comhair responded by accusing De Zerbi of degrading the player in front of his teammates and recommending a move as the best course of action.

Trossard has received numerous calls from the Belgium national football team. When Trossard had to withdraw due to injury in October 2018, Roberto Martinez re-named him to the Belgium team in September 2018[33]. In March 2019, Trossard remained a bench player once more.

On September 5, 2020, he made his Nations League debut against Denmark. In the 80th minute of the team’s 2-0 triumph, he came on as Dries Mertens’ replacement.

On March 30, 2021, in an 8-0 thrashing of Belarus in a 2022 World Cup qualifier, Trossard scored his first goal for his country and added a second. This was his first appearance at the international level.

On 10 November, Trossard was named in Belgium’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.On 23rd November, Trossard was a used sub in Belgium’s first World Cup group game against Canada.
