Leon Perera is a Singaporean politician. A member of the opposition Workers’ Party (WP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Serangoon division of Aljunied GRC since 2020.
Leon Perera career
Outside of politics, Perera started his job as a senior officer at the International Business Development Division of the Economic Development Board, where he first worked in the policy planning department supporting regional investments made by Singapore.
Later, he held the position of Assistant Head in the Enterprise Development Division, where he helped big Singaporean service companies—in the fields of engineering, logistics, education, and health care—grow.
Co-founding and serving as CEO of the global business research and advising firm Spire Research and Consulting was Perera. Additionally, he belongs to the Singapore Academy of Directors, the Economic Society of Singapore, and the Economic Development Board Society.
Leon Perera education
Before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, politics, and economics from Exeter College, Oxford at the University of Oxford, Perera completed his education at the Anglo-Chinese School and Hwa Chong Junior College. He was subsequently promoted to a Master of Arts by seniority (PPE).
